NBSC HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS’ FORUM FOR PROPOSED BS PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM
Northern Bukidnon State College’s Curriculum and Instruction Division (NBSC-CID) successfully conducted an online Stakeholders’ Forum for the proposed Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS Psych) program on May 25, 2026, through Zoom. The virtual consultation gathered administrators, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, students, alumni, and other stakeholders to discuss the relevance, viability, and institutional readiness for the proposed offering of the BS Psychology program.
The activity served as a consultative platform to strengthen stakeholder engagement and collaborative planning in support of the College’s continuing efforts toward academic expansion and responsive higher education. It also aimed to gather insights, recommendations, and expressions of support regarding the proposed program.
During the presentation and consultation, stakeholders highlighted the increasing demand for psychology professionals in education, mental health, human resource management, guidance and counseling, social services, and community development. Participants actively shared inputs on curriculum relevance, employability opportunities, faculty complement, institutional readiness, and the program’s potential contribution to the community and the region. They also emphasized the importance of offering a psychology program responsive to current societal needs, labor market demands, and national educational priorities.
Results from the stakeholder consultation reflected overwhelming support for the proposed program, with participants expressing strong acceptance and enthusiasm toward its implementation. A faculty member expressed optimism by stating, “Let’s do this!” while several students shared excitement over the possible opening of the program, describing it as a “great opportunity for students” and expressing hopes that the proposal would soon materialize. Stakeholders likewise expressed their commitment and support toward the successful implementation of the proposed BS Psychology program.
The Registrar and Student Records Office (RSRO), through one of its representatives, likewise highly commended the initiative and emphasized that it is timely for NBSC to expand its academic offerings and provide students with more program choices responsive to emerging societal and professional demands.
Stakeholders also provided constructive recommendations during the forum. One of the concerns raised focused on the availability and adequacy of qualified psychology instructors considering existing teaching loads and anticipated enrollment demands. This recommendation was acknowledged as an important consideration in ensuring program sustainability, faculty readiness, and quality instruction.
The conduct of the online Stakeholders’ Forum reflects NBSC’s commitment to inclusive planning, academic excellence, quality assurance, and stakeholder-responsive education. The insights, recommendations, and feedback gathered during the forum are expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement and development of the proposed BS Psychology program as the College advances its academic expansion initiatives.
